As February unfolds in Punta Mita, we can still feel the buzz of an exciting winter fishing season lingering in our memories. From the action-packed days of December seamlessly transitioning into thrilling experiences throughout January, the favorable weather has set the stage for unforgettable fishing excursions. Luckily, the pelagic fish have decided to extend their stay into the winter months, and as we step into February, anticipation runs high for another month filled with exciting opportunities for anglers. Let’s see what’s in store for the February fishing in exciting Punta Mita fishing adventures.Punta Mita fishing charters

The mornings greet us with a refreshing coolness at around 63 degrees, rising to a perfect 76 degrees in the afternoon, creating an ideal environment for fishing and snorkeling. It’s quite amusing to see locals bundling up in jackets at what visitors might consider mild weather. These temperature patterns have persisted over the past few weeks and are expected to remain consistent throughout February to March.

This month, Punta Mita boasts unusually warm water, welcoming the presence of mahi-mahi and sailfish into our fishing grounds and bay area. Our offshore eight-hour fishing charters have been incredibly successful, showcasing the abundance of these prized catches. However, the slight cooling of the water has tempered the activity for blue and black marlin, compensating with a surge in striped marlin action. Anglers can anticipate a diverse array of catches, making February an exceptional time to indulge in fishing adventures in Punta Mita.

The bay fishing experience has been nothing short of extraordinary, with conditions ideal for reeling in California bonitas and Spanish mackerel. Some days, the action is so intense that anglers can’t keep these species off the hook. For those planning a family-friendly excursion, a 4-6 hour bay fishing trip is an excellent choice. Conditions are expected to remain consistent through March, with only a slight increase in winds that won’t disrupt the bay fishing experience.  We are the only company in Punta Mita that offers fly fishing inshore and offshore.

As the waters continue to teem with life, baitfish such as skipjack tuna, google eye, Spanish mackerel, mahi-mahi, roosterfish, and sailfish are becoming more abundant, promising thrilling opportunities for anglers seeking a variety of catches. Whether you’re an experienced angler, fly fishing angler, or novice, February provides an excellent chance to relish the perfect weather and exceptional fishing opportunities in Punta Mita.
